College of the Ozarks to host Homecoming 2023: Shine Bright

POINT LOOKOUT, MO. ­– College of the Ozarks will host the Homecoming for 2023, themed Shine Bright, Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 2-5. Homecoming weekend will consist of several events for each day such as the Miss Hard Work U. honors ceremony, alumni golf game, a celebration picnic, alumni breakfast, and a C of O homecoming parade.

“We are excited to welcome alumni back to campus for Homecoming 2023: Shine Bright,” said Angela Williamson, director of alumni relations. “We look forward to a weekend of reconnecting with friends and classmates as we celebrate this time-honored tradition.”

The entire weekend of events for Homecoming 2023 will be centered around the idea of Shining Bright on generations of graduates from College of the Ozarks. The event welcomes alumni to return to the College to celebrate their legacy as part of the history of the institution. The alumni will participate in many different events alongside current students.

Tickets for the sporting events will be available at the door for general admission.

 Student Events

The candidates for Miss Hard Work U. participated in a community service outreach at the end of September, packing and delivering meals for Elevate Branson. The top 10 candidates are continuing to fulfill requirements as part of the competition.They will submit an essay to determine who places in the top five. Following the scoring of the essays, Dean of Students, Ryan Knight, will announce the top five candidates. The top five will participate in interviews with a panel of judges. After each of the requirements are met, the C of O student body will vote for who will be crowned as Miss Hard Work U.

The honor ceremony for the title of Miss Hard Work U. will be held at the Jones auditorium at College of the Ozarks on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend. College of the Ozarks will announce the winners via press release following this event.

  • Hollister Schools Foundation donates $4,000 for Therapy Dog

    The Hollister Schools Foundation has presented a $4,000 check to the Hollister R-V School District, funds raised during last spring’s "Coins for a Cause" fundraiser. The generous donation will be used to help purchase two therapy dogs for the district, set to debut at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The check was presented to Superintendent Dr. Brian Wilson and Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Dr. Sean Woods, by foundation board members Katie Adams, Ryan Gdovin, and Denise Olmstead.
