Units from two fire districts battle a brush fire near Highlandville.
The post below is from the Nixa Fire Protection District:
Saturday night around 19:30 hours, Nixa crews were dispatched for mutual aid to Highlandville Rural Fire Protection District for a large outside fire. Initial Highlandville crews had worked to make access in rough terrain and located a large fire over 15 acres.
Battalion Chief 21 and Brush 21 responded to provide assistance. When they arrived they were tasked with cutting a fireline in the steep terrain, utilizing leaf blowers and rakes.
With the efforts of everyone on scene, the fire was contained about three hours after the first Highlandville units arrived. The fire was estimated to be over 100 acres in size once the incident was terminated.
