Discussion on Future of Downtown Branson Events Begins

The first discussions on the future of festivals in downtown Branson occurred this week as on of those festivals iery set to begin.

According to a recap of the meeting from the Branson Tri-Lakes News, a small meeting of downtown business owners with Mayor Larry Milton and some aldermen turned into a Town Hall Meeting at Branson City Hall when some citizens expressed concerns on social media about the intent of the meeting fearing it would lead to the shutting down of downtown festivals like Plumb Nellie Days. 

Milton said at the meeting that he was seeking input from businesses about the impact of the downtown festivals with several stating that their businesses were hurt due to the festivals taking up parking spaces in downtown while a couple of owners said their business actually increased during the festival. The discussion was geared toward how to possibly relocate the festivals to areas that would not severely impact the fulltime businesses downtown. 

The 57th Annual Plumb Nellie Days is scheduled for Friday and Saturday on and in areas around the Awbery Parking Lot.

  • Hollister Schools Foundation donates $4,000 for Therapy Dog

    The Hollister Schools Foundation has presented a $4,000 check to the Hollister R-V School District, funds raised during last spring’s "Coins for a Cause" fundraiser. The generous donation will be used to help purchase two therapy dogs for the district, set to debut at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
