Drought Levels Increase in Lakes Region

The Lakes Region continues to see an upward trend in drought levels according to the latest map issued Thursday by the U.S. Drought Monitor. 

Severe Drought levels now include the Branson area as well as all of Table Rock Lake according to the latest map. All of Barry and Stone Counties along with western Taney County are at the severe level in Missouri while most of Carroll and northern Madison Counties in Arkansas are reported at a Severe Drought level. 

Moderate Drought levels persist in central and eastern Taney County Missouri as along with most of Boone and Newton Counties in Arkansas including the Harrison and Buffalo National River areas. The rest of the region is Abnormally Dry according to the Drought Monitor. 

While eastern parts of both Arkansas and Missouri received a large amount of rain from the remnants of Hurricanes Francine and Helene, little rain fell in the Ozarks, and none is in the forecast for the next week.
