The second of two Drug Take Back Days occurred across the nation on Saturday.
The Lakes Region saw a number of those events including one at Lakeland Pharmacy in Branson, which was covered by Josh Grisham of Legends 1063 on behalf of Drug Free Ozarks and the Taney County ADAPT Programs. Two other events coordinated by those organizations occurred at the Walgreens Pharmacy locations in Branson and Hollister.
Other events in the region in Missouri included CVS Pharmacy in Nixa and Phillips Pharmacy in Sparta. In Arkansas, Drug Take Back events took place in Harrison at the Police Department and Boone County Sheriff's Office along with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in Berryville, the Marion County Sheriff's Office in Yellville, and the Newton County Sheriff's Office in Jasper.
The event is designed to remind people of the importance of disposing of unused and expired prescription drugs and how it could lead to misuse by individuals as well as the dangers to the environment if disposed of improperly. All the locations also had drug take back boxes available for disposal.
