The twice annual Drug Take Back Event has made impacts in the Lakes Region according to the organizers of the event in the Branson Area.
Marietta Hagan and Tiffany Setchfield representing Drug Free Ozarks and the Taney County ADAPT Programs, during an interview Tuesday on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program, talked about some of those impacts. Hagan says that the 15 years that ADAPT has helped coordinate this event, statistics indicate that the number of students misusing prescription drugs in the state has dropped from around 10% to currently around 1% and Hagan believes this event has helped with that awareness. Setchfield added that students willing to talk among themselves about this and other issues like mental health has been a plus. She says that at Branson High School, the ADAPT Youth Club has been a resource for students to discuss these issues.
This year's event in Taney County will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm this Saturday with drop-off locations at Walgreens in Branson and Hollister as well as Lakeland Pharmacy in Branson. Legends 1063 KRZK will be broadcasting live from the takeback event at Lakeland from 10:00 am to Noon.
Other events in the region in Missouri include CVS Pharmacy in Nixa and Phillips Pharmacy in Sparta. In Arkansas, Drug Take Back Boxes are at several locations including in Harrison at the Police Department and Boone County Sheriff's Office along with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office in Berryville, the Marion County Sheriff's Office in Yellville, and the Newton County Sheriff's Office in Jasper.
