Drug Take Back Event Saturday

Many organizations in the Lakes Region will host events in conjunction with the spring Drug Takeback Event.

The event, coordinated twice annually by the Drug Enforcement Administration, is used as a reminder about the dangers of unused prescription and its role in the opioid crisis.

The ADAPT Coalition of Taney County will have three locations for the event this Saturday including Cox Health Pharmacy and Lakeland Pharmacy in Branson and Walgreens in Hollister. Marietta Hagan of Cox Health Branson along with ADAPT Taney County Coordinator Shelly Marlow talk about the event during a Friday interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program which can be heard below:

Among other locations in the Missouri Lakes Region include the Merriam Woods and Monett Police Departments as well as Walgreens in Nixa and Ozark.

Meanwhile, Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy on a recent edition of KHOZ's "Around the  Table" program talked about the event this weekend at the Ozark Crossing Mall. Other locations in northern Arkansas include the Eureka Springs Community Center and Harps in Huntsville. Several other locations with permanent boxes, including the police Departments in Eureka Springs and Harrison as well as the Boone County Sheriff's Office in Harrison, Carroll County Sheriff's Office in Berryville, and the Newton County Sheriff's Office in Jasper, will be open this weekend.

The Drug Take Back events begin at 10:00 am and will go to either 1:00 or 2:00 in most locations.

More information about other locations, both for this weekend and permanent locations, can be found on the D.E.A. Website.
