Many organizations in the Lakes Region will host events in conjunction with the spring Drug Takeback Event.
The event, coordinated twice annually by the Drug Enforcement Administration, is used as a reminder about the dangers of unused prescription and its role in the opioid crisis.
The ADAPT Coalition of Taney County will have three locations for the event this Saturday including Cox Health Pharmacy and Lakeland Pharmacy in Branson and Walgreens in Hollister. Marietta Hagan of Cox Health Branson along with ADAPT Taney County Coordinator Shelly Marlow talk about the event during a Friday interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program which can be heard below:
Among other locations in the Missouri Lakes Region include the Merriam Woods and Monett Police Departments as well as Walgreens in Nixa and Ozark.
Meanwhile, Harrison Police Chief Chris Graddy on a recent edition of KHOZ's "Around the Table" program talked about the event this weekend at the Ozark Crossing Mall. Other locations in northern Arkansas include the Eureka Springs Community Center and Harps in Huntsville. Several other locations with permanent boxes, including the police Departments in Eureka Springs and Harrison as well as the Boone County Sheriff's Office in Harrison, Carroll County Sheriff's Office in Berryville, and the Newton County Sheriff's Office in Jasper, will be open this weekend.
The Drug Take Back events begin at 10:00 am and will go to either 1:00 or 2:00 in most locations.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) congratulates Riley Isaacs of Bradleyville for becoming the latest state record holder for redear sunfish. The 17-year-old was bowfishing at Lake Taneycomo April 18 when he shot a 2-pound, 3-ounce fish. The previous record under alternative methods was a 2-pound, 2-ounce fish also caught from Lake Taneycomo in 2022.
The Hollister Schools Foundation has presented a $4,000 check to the Hollister R-V School District, funds raised during last spring’s "Coins for a Cause" fundraiser. The generous donation will be used to help purchase two therapy dogs for the district, set to debut at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The check was presented to Superintendent Dr. Brian Wilson and Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Dr. Sean Woods, by foundation board members Katie Adams, Ryan Gdovin, and Denise Olmstead.

This milestone marks the show as the oldest outdoor drama in the state of Missouri, as well as maintaining its title as the original show in Branson.
