Employee Accused of Robbing Local Business

A man arrested in connection with the break-in at YOLO Rolled Ice Cream on the Branson 76 strip was a long-time employee of the business.

Kamerron Eugene Place, 24, is facing up to 14 years in prison after being charged with 2nd degree burglary and stealing $750 or more.

According to the probable cause statement, on Nov. 18, 2023, surveillance video shows an adult male, clothed in dark pants, a dark hooded shirt, and a mask, approached the front of the store. They opened the front door with a key which appeared to be attached to a set of keys.

The thief then walked through the business directly to the back office, opening the office door, and entering. After entering the office, they went to a cabinet above a desk where the safe was located, opened it, took the safe out, and left with the safe. The video shows the suspect walking away from the business to the east.

While the crime was taking place, the thief kept their head facing the ground, and clearly knew the location of the safe in the business and the placement of security cameras.

YOLO ownership provided the Branson Police Department with full access to their surveillance system, and it was noticed the suspect had a lot of similarities to Place, one of the store’s longest-tenured employees.

Place spoke with investigators at the Branson Police Department voluntarily on Nov. 21, waiving his Miranda rights with evidence eventually collected leading to his arrest.

Place is currently out on bond.
