Federal Government Begins to Reopen Today After Shutdown Ends

The final pieces of the puzzle fell into place Wednesday as the U.S. House voted to approve the Senate Bill to end the longest Government Shutdown in U.S. History then hours later, that bill was signed by President Donald Trump.

The Shutdown lasted 43 days and was a result of a dispute due to the fact that a provision was not in the original bill presented in late September to extend Healthcare Tax Credits set to expire at the end of the year.

The agreement reached does not include those extensions but an agreement to have a vote on the measure in the Senate in December.

The current agreement will keep the government operating through January of next year while longer term funding agreements are negotiated.
