Federal shutdown felt across Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – As the partial U.S. government shutdown enters into its third week, ripple effects are being felt in Missouri.

In addition to the thousands of federal works being furloughed in the state, thousands of Missouri farmers are without access to essential financial assistance from payments and other services funneled through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the federal workforce in Missouri represents about 2% of the state’s overall non-farm labor force.
