An area organization is again searching for potential High School Football Officials for this season in southwest Missouri.
Dan Murphy is the Recruiting Coordinator for the Southwest Missouri Football Officials Association, and during a recent visit to KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program, said while the number of officials have been at consistent levels over the last several years, some more are needed to have enough to handle the load of games in the fall. He added that around a dozen individuals took part in last year's training and the organization is hoping for at least that many this year.
An initial meeting to go over rules will take place this Sunday the 29th at 2:00 pm at Springfield Catholic High School with an on field training session scheduled for Catholic on Sunday July 27 at 6:00 pm. The free training will continue into August with those completing the course and passing Part 1 of the rules examination becoming eligible for certification by the Missouri State High School Activities and assignments to Junior High, Freshman, and Junior Varsity Games this season and Varsity Games in future seasons.
