BRANSON, Mo. — A former City of Branson employee is suing the city for discrimination after she was terminated last month.
According to the petition, Kellie Prior, the suit’s plaintiff, was hired by the City of Branson in December of 2024 to be a paralegal.
Around May 1, 2025, while Prior was on the clock, her supervisor, Branson city attorney Solon McGee, informed Prior that he needed her to pick up his personal truck being serviced at a local car dealership.
The petition says McGee told Prior she would need to ride in the dealership’s courtesy vehicle and then drive McGee’s personal truck back to Branson City Hall.
Prior became concerned that McGee’s request was improper in that she was required to run a personal errand for an employee of the city while she was on the clock. She made a complaint to the city’s human resources, the petition says.
On May 29, Prior went to McGee’s office for her six-month employment review. McGee and another city employee informed Prior that the city was moving in a different direction and that May 29 was her last day of employment.
The petition cites several Missouri laws as the basis for the lawsuit.
