Former Missouri Governor and U.S. Senator Christopher "Kit" Bond Dies

A man who served eight years as Missouri Governor and later a U.S. Senator has died. 

Christopher “Kit” Bond passed away Tuesday at the age of 86. 

Bond, a Republican, had two different stints as Missouri Governor, first getting elected in 1972 and serving four years until he was defeated in 1976 by Democrat Joe Tisdale, Bond returned to Jefferson City after beating Tisdale in the 1980 Election. Bond then ran for the U.S. Senate in 1986 and served four-terms before retiring in 2010.

Bond got his start in State Government getting elected as State Auditor in 1970.
