The City of Forsyth will continue with only three of four Aldermen positions filled after the Mayor's Appointment to fill the vacancy was defeated.
At a meeting of the Board of Aldermen on November 3, Mayor Julie AuBuchon submitted the name of Bobby Sanderson to the Ward 2 Seat formerly held by Dustin Krob who resigned in September. The Board voted down that nomination and some in attendance inquired why two other people who expressed interest, former Mayor Kelly Kelly Dougherty and School Resource Officer Steve Huggins, were not considered. AuBuchon stated she had issues with some of the decisions Dougherty made as Mayor and thought Huggins position at Forsyth Schools and his officer commission through the police department would make a conflict of interest. Aubuchon then declared that the seat would go unfilled until next April's Municipal Election.
Meanwhile, Resolutions were later brought up during the meeting following up on previous discussions on procedures to impeach AuBuchon, who won election to the office last April. The Resolutions included appropriation of funds to retain a Special Council to see if Impeachment should proceed and the appointing of that council. While the Aldermen voted in favor, AuBuchon vetoed each of the Resolutions stating that State Law gave here that authority. A Special Meeting was scheduled to further discuss the items on November 6 but a post on the City's Facebook Page said that meeting was cancelled stating that the Resolutions from the previous meeting had passed.
More information on the proceedings can be found on the City of Forsyth Facebook Page while a further recap of this story can be found at the Branson Tri-Lakes News Website.
