The Hollister Schools Foundation has presented a $4,000 check to the Hollister R-V School District, funds raised during last spring’s "Coins for a Cause" fundraiser. The generous donation will be used to help purchase two therapy dogs for the district, set to debut at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The check was presented to Superintendent Dr. Brian Wilson and Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Dr. Sean Woods, by foundation board members Katie Adams, Ryan Gdovin, and Denise Olmstead.
The new therapy dogs will provide emotional support and comfort to students across the district, helping to enhance the learning environment and promote mental well-being. This initiative is part of the district’s ongoing commitment to supporting the social and emotional needs of students and creating a nurturing atmosphere for learning.
“Therapy dogs have proven to be a valuable resource in schools, and we are excited to introduce two dogs into our district,” said Dr. Brian Wilson, Superintendent of Hollister R-V School District. “We are deeply grateful to the Hollister Schools Foundation for their generous contribution. These dogs will provide comfort to students and staff alike, supporting a positive and supportive environment for all.”
Four district staff members will attend specialized training this summer to become certified dog handlers. This training ensures that the dogs will be well-prepared to meet the emotional and therapeutic needs of students in various school settings.
“We are thrilled to contribute to this exciting new initiative,” said Ryan Gdovin, Vice-Chair of the Hollister Schools Foundation. “The Coins for a Cause fundraiser was a true community effort, and we are proud that the funds raised will make such a meaningful impact on the well-being of students in the Hollister R-V School District.”
The Hollister Schools Foundation remains committed to supporting the district through fundraising efforts and community partnerships, ensuring that every student has the resources and support they need to succeed.
