The animated film King of Kings will run at North Arkansas College on July 26 at 6:30 p.m. for free, according to Jacquie Markle.
Markle and Mike Moore from Shiloh Baptist Church appeared on KHOZ's "Around The Table" to discuss the upcoming movie. It will play inside rather than outside because of the heat. Markle explained that the movie retells the story Charles Dickens wrote.
She said Dickens crafted it for his children as a way to teach them the story of Jesus Christ. He didn't intend for the work to go into the public, but Markle said his youngest son released it when he grew up.
Markle said activities will kick off at 5:30 p.m.
Activities are listed below:
- Old-time King Cakewalk
- Temporary tattoos
- Crown-making
- Find little Jesus figurines around town - Anyone who finds one should bring it with them to the movie. The names of everyone who finds one will go into a drawing. The winner of the drawing will win $100. There might be clues where to find the figurines on the college's Facebook Page
- Praise song competition
Shiloh Baptist Church in Harrison, Arkansas, is sponsoring the movie showing. Moore, the pastor at the local church, has pastored there for 11 years. He commented on what the winner of the praise song competition will receive.
The pastor said Michael Hosier donated studio time that will go to the winner. Hosier will professionally record the winner singing the praise song of their choice and release it. Hosier added that the contest is meant for kids 18 or 17 and under.
Markle talked about how to apply for the concert. Applicants need to apply online. More was discussed on the broadcast.
The full interview with Markle and Moore is on the "Around The Table" Facebook Page.
