Lakes Area Resident Dies from Injuries Sustained in March Traffic Crash in Springfield

A Taney County Man succumbs to injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Springfield in March.

According to the online obituary posted on this website, 41-year-old Thomas Smith of Hollister passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield on Saturday. 

A release from the Springfield Police Department states that Smith died from injuries sustained in the March 28th vehicle crash. The incident report indicates that the the crash occurred on Fort Street in Springfield when the motorcycle Smith was driving southbound collided with a car driven by 76-year-old Richard Weter of Springfield. Weter's car was northbound on Fort making a left turn according to the report. 

The circumstances of the crash are part of an ongoing investigation according to the release. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 417-864-TIPS (8477) or online at p3tips.com.
