Lakes Region Woman Remembers Dolly Parton

A Taney County woman who met Dolly Parton as a child is sharing memories of the entertainer’s influence in Branson and beyond.

Haylee Renee met Parton in 2000 when Parton visited the area to promote the Imagination Library literacy program.

Renee told KY3 earlier this week that she still remembers Parton as warm and attentive during the visit. She was one of several children who met the singer at the Branson attraction now known as Dolly Parton’s Stampede.

One of the lasting reminders from that day is a signed copy of The Little Engine That Could. Renee said the book became a favorite in her childhood and has now become meaningful again as she shares books with her own daughter.

More on the story can be found on the KY 3 Website.
