Local health officials are reminding residents that a mineral still found in the Lakes Region can pose dangers to people.
Sharon Turney with the Taney County Health Department says in a recent edition of the “At Your Service” podcast that Lead is still very prevalent in both southern Missouri and northern Arkansas due to mining of the mineral for years. Turney also says the Lakes Region has many older homes may still have some lead paint and pipes lined with lead which was very prevalent in construction through the 1970’s.
Lead can be harmful to people, especially pregnant women and young children. More information can be found with the complete interview posted on the “At Your Service” page on the Branson Podcast Network.
