Library Center of the Ozarks Into Year Three as a Public Library

As it enters its third year as a public library, the Library Center of the Ozarks gets set to welcome a new director and the hope of expansion.

Anne McGregor, President of the Library's Board of Trustees, talks about the progress of the library since January of 2024 after a vote the previous August to pass a Library Tax Levy in the Branson and Hollister School Districts to support the library that had operated over 90 years prior as the privately held Taney Hills Community Library. That includes the number of items in the library collection that has gone up to over 14,600 items. McGregor adds that items being checked out to the public has gone up 17% over the two years. She also talks about many of the technological advances over the past couple of years. McGregor credits the advancements to the old Taneyhills Community Library Organization that gave the existing building and contents which allowed the new library to focus on advancement.

McGregor adds that one of the advancements still in the works is the moving to a new building. She says the current building is near capacity plus the location is isolated from public view. McGregor says the Board of Trustees feel a new building is needed and continue to seek at a good location for the facility.

Recently, the Library announced that J. Nicholas Holladay will take over as Library Executive Director in February. McGregor talks about that and other aspects of the library during the full interview which can be seen on the Ozarks Now Facebook Page.
