Several months of dispute over a settlement in charges of misconduct against Branson Entertainer Reza Borchardt continues with a pair of court dates in the next two weeks.
The first is Monday in Taney County Circuit Court as Judge Jeffery Merrell will rule on a motion to raise the level of security of facts accessible on the case which is being challenged by the Branson Tri-Lakers News and the second is a Bench Trail on August 6 on the settlement dispute.
A recap of the court documents plus supporting information from a Branson Tri-Lakes Report follows:
Earlier this year, two females who had made claims of improper sexual behavior and contact against Borchardt had proposed a settlement through their attorney on the case which according to their lawyer had been accepted by Borchardt through his attorney. Later filings indicate that Borchardt's representatives wanted to add a nondisclosure agreement to the settlement and offered to pay more than the already agreed to amount of $5 million to obtain it. Both plaintiff's declined which has now led to a a Breach of Contract Lawsuit being filed.
As the case progressed, the attorney for Borchardt filed a motion to raise the security level of public access due to the nature of the case. In an article Saturday, the Branson Tri-Lakes News states they are opposing that motion on grounds of the right to analyze the facts of the case as part of their covering the story.
The original settlement was for claims made by the two women who had been employed for Borchardt's show when they were still minors. They had accused him of numerous incidents of sexual misconduct during their time with the show.
