Local representatives praise passage of bill putting repeal of Amendment 3 on ballot

A measure introduced and shepherded through the state legislature by Branson area State Rep. Brian Seitz and State Sen. Brad Hudson regarding abortion has cleared the final hurdle to being placed before voters.

The Missouri State Senate passed HJR 73, a bill which will put restrictions on abortion after the removal of most restrictions with the passage of Amendment 3 in November 2024. Voters will be asked to repeal Amendment 3 and allow abortions only for a medical emergency, fetal anomaly or in cases of rape or incest up to 12 weeks of pregnancy.

“The passage of HJR 73, which I carried in the House, is of extreme importance to let the voice of the people be heard once again on the issue of protecting women, children and the unborn,” Rep. Seitz told Branson Tri-Lakes News. “The voters of Missouri expressed their thoughts with the narrow passage of Amendment 3, but as they are now seeing, they got more than what they bargained for.”
