Resident Barb Durham said she felt Ward II Alderman Scott Flameling was ineligible to serve as an alderman and his appointment was done illegally over another potential candidate for the position.
Flameling was appointed to the board in 2023 after resignations from sitting aldermen and then-Mayor Rusty Ault put the city in an emergency situation with only two of six aldermen in office, resulting in the lack of a quorum being available for city business.
