MSHP: Roads Getting Safer, Drivers Still Need to be Cautious

A Public Information Officer with the Missouri State Highway Patrol says road safety is better but can always get better.

Sgt. Michael McClure is one of the Troop D PIOs, and during an interview on KRZK's "Ozarks Now" program said that the spike in traffic crashes and deaths that happened nationwide after the COVID-19 Pandemic has leveled out, the number of drivers on the road continues to be high which means drivers have to continue their efforts to drive safely.

As the Independence Day Holiday approaches, Sgt. McClure reminds drivers on both the highways and the waterways to exercise caution and make sure if alcohol is involved, that a designated driver is as well. He also warns against vacation driving and that taking a trip to relax does not mean relaxing when it comes to operating vehicles or boats.

Sgt. McClure also talked about other aspects of the Highway Patrol including potential careers. The full interview can be seen on the Ozarks Now Facebook Page plus the interview can be heard on the "At Your Service" Podcast on the Branson Podcast Network.
