Last Night, (7/20/25), Nixa Fire Battalion 21, Engine 22 and Rescue 25 were dispatched for a rescue at the Shelvin Rock River access for a patient in the river with a traumatic leg injury.
Crews arrived and located the patient lying in the river on the opposite bank from the access. After assessing the scene and access to the patient the four Swiftwater Technicians on scene donned their PPE and deployed the rescue boat. One rescue tech swam to the patient and began patient care and stabilization. The following three rescue techs brought the boat to the patient.
Once the patient was packaged and loaded onto the boat, the rescue techs brought the patient back across the river and turned the patient over to Christian County Ambulance District.
Efficient deployment, stabilization and execution had the patient in the care of EMS quickly.
We are proud to serve the citizens of the Nixa Fire Protection District.
