Nixa Police solve a stolen vehicle and several area thefts last week.
The release below is from the Nixa Police Department:
On December 18, 2025, Nixa Police officers located a vehicle reported stolen from Joplin, Missouri. The driver refused to stop and fled, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit westbound on Highway 14 out of Nixa. Officers quickly and safely terminated the pursuit, with no injuries to officers or members of the public.
The driver, Tanner Counts, and a female passenger, Brittany Osburn, were taken into custody at the scene. During the investigation, officers recovered stolen construction tools, stolen computers, suspected fraudulent checks, a firearm, and methamphetamine from inside the vehicle.
As a result of this investigation, Nixa Police officers were able to solve multiple area thefts and worked with surrounding law enforcement agencies to assist in the recovery and return of several stolen items.
The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has filed charges related to the incident. Counts was arrested and has been charged with Tampering with Motor Vehicle – 1st degree, Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Resisting Arrest/Detention/Stop by Fleeing – Creating a Substantial Risk of Serious Injury/Death to Any Person. He is currently being held at the Christian County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond. Osburn was arrested and charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of Methamphetamine and is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
The Nixa Police Department remains committed to proactive policing and the safe resolution of criminal activity that poses a risk to the community. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
