North Arkansas College (Northark) recently received recognition from EduMed.org for its online Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) and Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCNA) programs. EduMed.org, a trusted resource for student-focused college and career information, recently unveiled its annual rankings for the 2025-26 academic year. Northark’s online programs rose above others for their outstanding combination of quality, affordability, accessibility, and positive student outcomes.
Northark excelled in healthcare areas, notably, the MLT program ranked as the eighth best online MLT program in the nation.
“This recognition speaks to the extraordinary effort our students put into their studies and clinical work and is a direct reflection of the dedication of our faculty.” Northark President Rick Massengale said. “I am proud that Northark continues to provide programs that meet students where they are, supports their goals, and prepares them to excel in healthcare roles.”
Northark’s MLT AAS program combines 100% online didactic coursework with in-person clinicals, designed for students with medical lab employment or relevant experience. It offers flexible completion in 3 to 5 semesters post-prerequisites. Graduates are prepared for the ASCP MLT certification exam. Students must secure clinical sites, typically through current employers. The program is NAACLS-accredited.
Northark’s CCMA program ranked second as the Best Online CCMA Program in Arkansas. This program prepares students for diverse clinical duties, including measuring vital signs, assisting with exams, performing laboratory tests, administering injections, and obtaining blood specimens. EduMed selected Northark’s CCMA program because it includes the exam fee vouchers for the CCMA certification, saving students additional costs. Students gain hands-on experience through an unpaid clinical practicum, enhancing skills and employability. The curriculum allows students with prior knowledge to test out of the Medical Terminology course, enabling faster progression for qualified individuals.
EduMed’s rankings use the latest official data available from The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
