Though the Lakes Region was spared heavy damage due to the thunderstorms that moved through the area on Sunday, Springfield is continuing their recovery efforts after the storm knocked out power to over 37,000 customers.
In an update on Monday, City Utilities officials said that they hope to have power restored to most customers by Thursday as their technicians work around the clock to get power restored.
One traffic fatality was reported due to the storm as a 20-year-old woman from Springfield was driving a vehicle that was hit by a tree falling due to high winds according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
While rain has moved out of the area, the heat will also take a break for a couple of days with highs in the mid 80’s today and Wednesday before 90-degree temperatures return by Thursday
