Federal officials are urging residents in Arkansas and Missouri to check their pantries after a nationwide peanut butter recall tied to possible plastic contamination.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says more than 20,000 peanut butter products distributed across the United States are affected. The products were manufactured by Ventura Foods and sold under several private label brands. The recall began in April 2025 after inspectors discovered pieces of blue plastic in a production filter, and on Feb. 12 the FDA classified the recall as Class II, meaning exposure could cause temporary or medically reversible health problems with a low risk of serious injury.
The recall includes single-serve creamy peanut butter packets in 0.5-ounce and 0.75-ounce cups and 1.12-ounce packs, along with twin packs that combine creamy peanut butter with strawberry jam or grape jelly in 1.12-ounce and 1 ounce cups. Federal officials say the products were sold under private label brands including US Foods, DYMA Brands, Flavor Fresh, Sysco House Recipe, Katy's Kitchen and Gordon Food Service, and were distributed to 40 states, including Arkansas and Missouri. Because the items are commonly used by schools, restaurants, healthcare facilities and other food service providers, the products may have reached institutions and homes across the region.
