People who like warm temperatures are receiving a special Christmas Gift this year as record high temperatures are possible in parts of the Ozarks.

The National Weather Service says the 70-degree high temperatures will remain in the region through Saturday. The record in Springfield for Christmas Day was set in 1889 at 74 with Thursday’s high expected at that mark while Joplin is expected to break their record of 72 set in 2016.

A front will bring an end to the warm temperatures after Saturday with an over 40-degree difference from Saturday’s high of 78 to Monday’s predicted high of 35 degrees.
