Registration now Open for Parks & Recreation Youth Flag Football and Youth Volleyball

According to press releases, Branson’s Parks & Recreation Department is registering for two youth sports.

Youth Flag Football for children who are in kindergarten through third grade is now open for registration; the deadline to register is Aug. 30 “This 7-v-7 instructional league is designed to introduce youth to the fundamentals of football in a safe and exciting way. Teams will have the ability to practice once or twice a week at Cedar Ridge Elementary and Stockstill Park, with all games held on Saturday mornings at Branson High School and Junior High School,” a press release states.

Practices begin the week of Aug. 30. The five game season starts Sept. 11. “Individual and team entries are accepted. Each participant will be provided a t-shirt, flag belt and flags.” More information and online registration are available on the Flag Football section on the Branson Parks & Recreation website.

Registration is also open for 2021 Fall Youth Volleyball season; this is available for youth in grades first through sixth. A press release states that the league “offers a great opportunity to improve team and individual skills and will focus on the continued development of fundamentals and basic skills while providing a fun and exciting atmosphere.”

The eight game season will be starts on Saturdays on Sept. 25 and will end Oct. 30. Teams will practice each week starting Aug. 30. The deadline to register is Aug. 23. “Individual and team entries are accepted.” More information on this program, including fees and online registration, can also be found in the Volleyball section of the Branson Parks & Recreation website.   • Hollister Schools Foundation donates $4,000 for Therapy Dog

    The Hollister Schools Foundation has presented a $4,000 check to the Hollister R-V School District, funds raised during last spring’s "Coins for a Cause" fundraiser. The generous donation will be used to help purchase two therapy dogs for the district, set to debut at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The check was presented to Superintendent Dr. Brian Wilson and Assistant Superintendent of District Operations, Dr. Sean Woods, by foundation board members Katie Adams, Ryan Gdovin, and Denise Olmstead.
