Boone County’s Current Assistant Judge will take over the top spot next year.

In Tuesday's Primary Runoff Election, Tyler Gentry defeated Bobby Woods 2,278 to 1,600.

The Judge’s Position in Boone County is currently vacant after the recent resignation of Robert Hathaway after he was charged in the investigation of misuse of funds by a county employee. Although there is no Democratic Opposition in November for the position, Gentry is still considered a candidate for the office and according to Arkansas Law, can not be appointed to fill the position. The Quorum Court is scheduled to meet April 9 to appoint a judge to finish out the rest of Hathaway’s term.

Two northern Arkansas State Representative Races were a part of Tuesday’s Republican Primary Runoff Election.

In District 5 which covers parts of Boone County, Mike Bishop defeated Jeff Pratt 1,857 to 1,283 votes to gain the win.

Meanwhile, District 6 was much closer as only 37 votes separate Cody Rogers and Hunter Rivett. Totals from Boone and Carroll Counties has Rogers with 1,224 votes while 1,187 votes were cast for Rivett.

Pending verification of the results, Bishop and Rogers will take their house seats next year as neither have Democratic Opposition. The incumbents in both of those races did not file for re-election.
