Firefighters quickly contain a fire Wednesday evening that breaks out at the Dutton Theater on W. 76 Country Blvd.

According to a report posted on the Branson Mo Fire-Rescue Facebook Page, the fire began just before 7:00 with firefighters discovering a trash can completely burned and a fire extending from there onto a support beam and eventually onto the ceiling of the lobby. The fire was contained at that point. Fire damage was limited to those areas though much of the building did sustain smoke damage.

No injuries were reported and no one was on site at the time the fire started as the Dutton Family did not have a show scheduled for Wednesday. The fire has been ruled accidental in nature. Branson Firefighters were assisted on scene by both the Southern Stone and Western Taney County Fire Districts as well as Branson Police and Taney County Ambulance.

Fire officials state in the post as does Thomas Dutton in a video interview with Jason Wert of the Branson Tri-Lakes News that they are working together on a plan to get the theater opened back up as soon as possible.

Original Report
Firefighters are on the scene Wednesday evening as a fire breaks out at the Dutton Theater on W. 76 Country Blvd.

Jason Wert reports on the Branson Tri-Lakes News Facebook Page that a fire started in the area around the sign at the front of the theater and also was in the area of the box office and the lobby. Wert reports that the theater was empty at the time of the fire.

During a later video, Wert visits with Timothy Dutton who says fire officials told him that the fire was contained to the front area of the building with damage limited primarily to smoke damage.
