Storms Blow Through the Lakes Region Causing Damage, Injuries

A line of thunderstorms move through late Sunday afternoon and early evening bringing very strong winds.

A frontal boundary ahead of some showers and thunderstorms brought winds gusts of 60-70 MPH leading the National Weather Service to issue Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for both the Branson and Harrison areas. A 62 MPH Wind Gust was reported by a weather observer in the Walnut Shade area. 

Emergency Management Reports to the NWS included a report from Stone County of 60-70 MPH Wind Gusts leading to downed powerlines and trees along with four boats being capsized on Table Rock Lake. Meanwhile, an Emergency Management Report from Taney County said that four people sustained injuries at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena from flying debris.

The Sunday Concert at Thunder Ridge was already underway when the storm hit. According to the venue Facebook page, they paused they show an evacuated the venue. A later post said the show featuring headliners Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan was postponed due to the ongoing severe weather. 

Power was impacted in the region with just over 500 White River Customers in Christian, Stone, and Taney Counties in Missouri with out power as of 9:00 Sunday evening with other White River customers in Boone and Marion Counties in Arkansas also without power. Entergy and Liberty also reported outages as did Carroll Electric Cooperative. 

The storms had a major impact in the Springfield area with over 39,000 customers without power according to Springfield's City Utilities with the NWS reporting many trees and powerlines down. 

Storms moved out of the region mid-evening with scattered thunderstorms expected to redevelop overnight and impact the region Monday.
