As predicted by weather forecasters, several waves of severe thunderstorms moved through the Lakes Region on Monday night. Barry,
Stone, and Taney Counties in Missouri were under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for nearly three hours while a tornadic storm in Arkansas prompted Tornado Warnings for Boone, Carrol, Madison, and Marion Counties for a time. No damage has been reported in the Lakes Region to the National Weather Service though a 51 MPH was recorded at the Boone County Airport in Harrison.
Some trees were reported down in surrounding areas blocking roadways and a funnel cloud was spotted as part of the storm moving through northern Arkansas though no tornado damage has been reported to the NWS.
Rain is clearing out of the region today and dry, more seasonal conditions will be in place the rest of the week with high temperatures in the 70s. Gene Hatch of the National Weather Service, during an interview on KRZK’s “Ozarks Now” program on Monday, says a system moving into the region late this week could lead to a rainy Memorial Day Weekend.
