A handgun was discovered in a Nixa High School student’s backpack on Tuesday, April 22.
The district tells Ozarks First a student was pulled aside to search their backpack, and inside was an unloaded handgun, an unloaded magazine, and a box of ammunition.
“We didn’t have any indication of threats or concerns to safety,” said Jared Webster, the Executive Director of Secondary Education in Nixa.
A student at the SCORE campus of Nixa High School was taken into custody by police after the gun and ammo were found inside their backpack.
