A ceremony will be held this morning dedicating an intersection in Hollister to former Taney County Sheriff Newt Boles, who lost his life in the line of duty 100 years ago today.
The Taney County 100 Club will hold the ceremony at 9:00 to dedicated the intersection of BB Highway and Coon Creek Road. According to historic archives recapped on the Taney County 100 Club Website, it was near that location that Sheriff Boles was gunned down trying to take a suspect in a bank robbery near Protem into custody on August 12, 1924.
The dedication is a part of the Heroes Way Program from the Taney County 100 Club honoring Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders who lost their life in the line of duty.
This morning’s ceremony will be held in the Hollister High School Gym.
