Unique 5K Scheduled for October 30th in Branson

The following is from a press release sent to KRZK.

For the first time ever runners and walkers in the Branson area will be able to participate in the a truly unique 5K event.

The event will start at Westgate Resorts in Branson located at 2201 Roark Valley Rd.  and go through the Lights of Joy Christmas Light Drive Thru.  Participants will be encouraged to wear their favorite Christmas attire, ugly Christmas sweater or Halloween costume, but are not required to do so.   Prizes will be given out for the best costumes.

“There are very few places in the world where you can experience a run like this,” says Sarah Yocum, one of the event organizers.  “There aren’t very many places where Halloween and Christmas seasons are back to back and you can run among Christmas light displays.”

Lights of Joy officially opens on November 1st so the runners will get a sneak peak at all the new Christmas displays we will have this year, said Steve Hager, manager of Lights of Joy.  “We are excited to participate in this event and help support KLIFE.”

Registration is now open at trilakes.klife.com.  Adult cost age 13 and up is $30 until October 24th.  Child cost is $25.00 from 4 to 12.  A family rate also exists if everyone in the family wants to participate.  Registration includes a free shirt but supplies and cut off dates apply.

The run/walk will begin at 6:16 pm on Saturday, October 30th.  Runners can start to arrive by 5pm to register and pre-event activities.

“This is a great opportunity for visitors also to come to Branson for the weekend, catch some shows, visit attractions and participate in a crazy fun run,” said Yocum.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Tri-lakes KLIFE.  Tri-Lakes KLIFE is a youth based ministry and discipleship program.  Sponsorship opportunities also exist.  Call Chris at 417-337-1822 for sponsorship information.
