One week from today, voters in Missouri will head to the polls in the April Municipal Election.
Besides a number of positions to be filled for area Cities, Villages, School Boards, and other administrative boards, several issues will also be going before voters.
In Taney County, the only issue will be one several other counties in the state are deciding on; the Freezing of Certain Property Taxes giving property owners a break on the amount they pay annually. This was a part of Senate Bill Number 3 last year that involved potential stadium funding.
While voters in Stone County will not have that on this ballot, two other issues will appear on the ballot. One is the question whether to continue Planning and Zoning in the County and the other is for the Stone County Ambulance District for an Internet Use Tax that would allow the county to receive money already collected for internet purchases.
There are several local issues on the ballots including one for the Hurley School District asking for passage of a Bond Issue to help repair school facilities as well as build a Transportation Facility and purchase a School Bus. The Hurley Fire Protection District is also asking voters to approve a Tax Levy Increase.
City and Village issues before voters include a Public Safety Sales Tax in Reeds Spring plus a pair of issues involving Property Taxes and Elections for the Village of Water’s Edge, which was incorporated in 2025.
Election Day is next Tuesday from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm.
