Wrongful Death Suit Filed in Taney County Court for 2024 Boating Accident

A fatal boating accident on Table Rock Lake last year has led to a Wrongful Death Suit being filed in Taney County Circuit Court.

The father of 7-year-old Reuben Roy, Jacob Edmonds of Joplin is suing the boy’s mother, Bethany Roy of Carthage and her father, Donald Roy of Joplin for Reuben’s death after being killed when getting hit be the propeller of a boat they were in on July 25, 2024. The court documents state that Bethany was negligent in operating the boat when she was backing up to get Reuben out of the water after he fell off a knee board. The suit also claimed that Donald Roy was negligent in allowing Bethany to operate the boat. 

No court dates have been set yet for the hearing of this case.
