Area Basketball Teams Get Ready for Christmas Break, Tournaments

Several MOARK High School Basketball Teams are heading into Christmas Break and eventually tournaments during the holiday week.

Harrison
The Goblins and Lady Goblins host the annual Lendel Thomas Classic this year running December 29-31 at Goblin Arena. 

The opening day schedule is below:
Branson vs. Viola Girls 11:00 am
Carthage vs. Marshall Boys 12:20
Bergman vs. Marshall Girls 1:40
Earle vs. Vilonia Boys 3:00
Jasper vs. Earle Girls 4:20
Bergman vs. Van Buren Boys 5:40
Harrison vs. Cutter-Morning Star Girls 7:00
Harrison vs. Mena Boys 8:20

The Goblins are looking for a bounce back after a 3-8 record to start the season. The Goblin wins include the season opener against Huntsville, the Willard Tournament Consolation Final against West Plains, and the opening game of the Rogers Tournament to Providence Academy. The Lady Goblins meanwhile, are 8-3 off of victories last week over Branson and Rogers. 

Branson
After the Pirates won the Forsyth Tournament and handled a regular season match-up with the Goblins, the Pirate dropped a pair of close games, to Republic at home 65-60 and at Ozark 79-72. The Pirates are a fifth seed at the Blue and Gold Tournament and will open on Friday at 12:30 against Willow Springs. The Lady Pirates had lost three out of four games, including the contest at Harrison, before winning at Mt Vernon last Thursday. The Lady Pirates will resume action at the LT Classic next Monday. 

Forsyth
The Panthers broke a three game losing streak with a home win over East Newton last Friday 55-47. The Panthers host Marshfield tonight before heading to Highland, Arkansas for the Bad Boys Mowers Classic beginning next Monday against Sloan Hendrix. The Lady Panthers notched their first win of the season last week, getting a 37-33 home win over Blue Eye. The Lady Panthers open against Wheaton at the Southwest Tournament in Washburn on Saturday. 

Reeds Spring
The Lady Wolves are 7-2 for the season including notching the Blue Eye Tournament Championship. The Lady Wolves did lost last week at Marionville and play at home against Crane tonight before playing at the Pink and White Lady Classic against Sarcoxie on Friday. The Lady Wolves are a sixth seed in the field for this year's tournament. The Reeds Spring Boys got their first win of the season in their last game before the break, grabbing a 44-41 victory at the OCHC Classic against host Weaubleau. The Wolves will play in the Blue and Gold against Marshfield on Friday.

Hollister
The Lady Tigers lost their opening game at the Walnut Grove Tournament Saturday 53-40, and will play a Consolation Game today against Spokane today at Ash Grove with another game to follow on Saturday back at Walnut Grove. The Tigers meanwhile are also at the Walnut Grove Tournament, and got a win in the opening round over El Dorado Springs 50-38 and are playing today against top seeded Seymour and will have another game on Wednesday. 

Blue Eye
The Lady Bulldogs are also at the Walnut Grove Tournament, losing to Marion C Early at Morrisville in overtime 46-43. The Lady Bulldogs are playing Halfway in the consolation round today. The Blue Eye Boys are not in a Holiday Tournament this season with their last game of the year coming up tonight in Berryville.
