Holiday Basketball Tournaments Continue, Conclude

While some Holiday Basketball Tournaments are completed or wrapping-up today, others will continue through New Year's Eve.

Lendel Thomas Classic
Both the host teams as well as another area school post wins on opening day. In the first contest of the day, the Branson Lady Pirates pull away in the second half for a 59-39 win over Viola behind the 20 points of Angel Craigg. The win sets-up a rematch with the Harrison Lady Goblins in the semifinals, who rolled by the Lady Pirates in a game two weeks ago in Harrison. The Lady Goblins on Monday roll to a 64-47 win over Cutter Morning Star from Hot Springs with Jenna Lewis leading the way with 21 points. 

The Harrison Boys won their opening round game with a 74-47 win over Mena. Chance Lorenz scored 19 points to led the Goblins into the semifinals tonight against Vilonia, who notched a 62-38 win over Earle. 

The Carthage and Van Buren Boys along with the Bergman and Earle Girls also won their first round games. 

Tonight's Harrison-Branson Girls and Harrison-Vilonia Boys Games can be heard on MOARK Sports and 94.9 KHOZ.

Springfield Tournaments
At the Boys Blue and Gold Tournament, the Branson Boys dropped a semifinal game to Nixa 74-52. The Pirates will play in the third place game for the third year in a row, this time matching-up with fellow Ozark Mountain Conference foe West Plains. The game begins at 4:00 at Missouri State University's Great Southern Bank Arena and can be heard on MOARK Sports. 

In the Pink and White Lady Classic, Miller eliminated Reeds Spring from the tournament with a 55-24 win over Reeds Spring. 

Other Tournaments
Both Forsyth teams are playing in Holiday Tournaments. The Boys won their opening round game at the Bad Boys Mowers Tournament at Highland, defeating Sloan-Hendrix 73-62 and sending them to today's semifinal against Bay.  For the Lady Panthers, after an 0-5 start to the season, they have gone on a three game winning streak including wins at the Southwest Tournament over Wheaton 48-24 and host Southwest 44-43. The Lady Panthers will play East Newton in the Championship Game this afternoon at 5:00.
