The Hollister High School ARMY JROTC Color Guard earned an impressive 2nd place finish in the Open Color Guard Competition at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Western Classic Drill Meet and Color Guard on April 12 in Denver, Colorado.
The prestigious event drew 106 teams from 46 of the top JROTC programs representing military branches from across the western United States. Competing for the first time at this high-level event, the Hollister Color Guard showcased outstanding discipline, teamwork, and precision.
The Hollister team is composed of four cadets: Cadet Captain Ashanty Torres (Color Guard Commander), Cadet Major Sadie Gomez, Cadet Second Lieutenant Grace Cohen, and Cadet Command Sergeant Major Mary Helman.
“This is a remarkable accomplishment for our cadets and a testament to their hard work, leadership, and commitment,” said HHS Principal Dr. Jared Terry. “To place second among so many elite programs in our first year at this meet is something our entire school and community can be proud of.”
The Hollister High School JROTC program is under the direction of Col. Brian Bart and 1SG Yale Barkefelt, who serves as the Color Guard Instructor.
