Hollister Wrestler Bryson Whitman completes a special senior season, winning 48 of 49 matches including the final one that crowns him a state wrestling champion.
Whitman completed his run in the MSHSAA Class 2 State Tournament Thursday, claiming the title match in the 165 Weight Class, taking a 14-5 major decision win over Deagen Pasley Savannah.
Three of the four wins came in decisive fashion with Whitman's biggest challenge coming in the quarterfinals, where he slipped by last year's state champion Austyn Hunter of Kirksville 6-5.
Whitman's only loss of the season came last week, dropping the District Title Match though still qualifying for the State Tournament.
The title is the first for the Hollister Wrestling Program.
