Several Area Track Athletes Advance State Track Meets

Athletes from the Lakes Region continue their quest to continue their season in postseason meets.

Class 1-3
The top four in events at this past weekend's Sectional Meets will move on to the State Meets in Jefferson City.

Among the top finishers include Hollister's Sinry Mendoza, who again swept the Distance Events at the Class 3 Sectional at Mountain Grove taking first in the Boys 800, 1600, and 3200 Meter Runs. Mendoza will be joined in the 800 Meter Run by Tiger teammate Eli Struik, who finished fourth in that event. Also representing Hollister at the State Meet will be the Girls 4 x 800 Meter Relay team who took third place. 

Forsyth's first-year track program will have a representative in the state meet as Brynlie Yarnell, who had a second place finish in the 1600 Meter Run and a third place finish in the 3200. 

Reeds Spring will be represented in seven events at the Class 3 State Meet let by Max Hirschi who finished third in both the Boys 800 and 1600 Meter Runs. Other state qualifiers include Allaina Johnson (2nd Girls High Jump),, Grace Chastain (3rd Girls Pole Vault), Emmarae Thompson (3rd Girls 100 Meter Hurdles), and Isabelle Sooter (4th Girls Long Jump). Also moving on is the Boys 4 x 800 Meter Relay team after a fourth place finish. 

In other meets, the Class 2 Sectional also took place at Mountain Grove. 

Crane had a strong showing qualifying in seven of the eight events they participated. The Pirates claimed on Sectional Champion with Andrew Faucett taking first in the Boys Discus. Lily Woodward qualified in three events, finishing second in the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles and Triple Jump and third in the Long Jump. Other athletes moving on include Owen Vaught (3rd Boys Javelin), Lylah Wilson (4th Girls High Jump), and Isabella Simphaly (4th Girls Long Jump). Also qualifying with a second place Sectional finish is the Boys 4 x 200 Meter Relay Team. 

The School of the Ozarks Boys also claimed a Sectional Champion with Scott Carswell claiming first in the Boys Triple Jump. The Boys qualified in five other events, including two relays, the 4x 800 (2nd) and the 4 x 400 (3rd). Individually, Kellen Robertson finished second in the 3200 Meter Run, Ethan Howard third in the 3200 Meter Run, and Si Martin fourth in the 110 Meter Hurdles. 

Another area school with a Class 2 Sectional Champion is Spokane with Madeline Hardee taking first in the Girls Javelin. Spokane qualified in three other events, all relays: the Girls 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 Meter Relays (2nd in both) and the Boys 4 x 800 Meter Relay (4th).

The Class 1 Sectional took place at Carl Junction. 

The Blue Eye track program claimed first in two relay events, the Boys 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 Meter Relays. The Bulldogs also got a fourth place finish from the Boys 4 x 400 Meter Relay team to move on to State. Blue Eye also qualified in seven individual events. On the boys side, Ashton Little will compete in the 100 Meter Dash (2nd) and the 200 Meter Dash (3rd). In addition, Izzlee Brown took third in the 110 Meter Hurdles, Isaac Harper third in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Girls individual qualifiers are Emmalee Litel (2nd in both 100 and 200 Meter Dashes) and Coral Fultz (4th Javelin).

Three Galena Track athletes will move on to state in Class 1, Wyatt Doak (3rd Boys High and Triple Jumps) and Melanie Rice (4th Girls 100 Meter Hurdles).

The School of the Ozarks Girls had a Sectional Champion with Melody Lingner in the Long Jump. The Lady Patriots will move on to state in every event they entered, including Lingner with third place finishes in the 100 and 200 Meter Dashes. Other qualifiers area Ella Howard (2nd 3200 Meter Run, 4th 1600 Meter Run), and Claire Knight (2nd Triple Jump and 300 Meter Relays) The 4 x 200 Meter Relay Team claimed second place in their race.
