Derek Van Winsen, age 41, passed away on March 25, 2026.

Derek Van Winsen, beloved son, brother, father and friend, was born on August 18, 1984 in Pittsfield, IL to Timothy Dean Gaddis and Dawn Marie Van Winsen. After graduating from Branson High School in 2002, Derek began a career in the HVAC industry. Later, he transitioned to customer service, bringing patience, and willingness to help others every day.

Outside of work, Derek found joy in the outdoors. He loved camping, casting a line, and searching for arrowheads in the fields. Golf was another passion—whether hitting balls or practicing his putting, he cherished time spent on the greens.

Derek entered into rest on March 25, 2026 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield at the age of 41.

He is survived by his mother, Dawn Van Winsen of Kirbyville; his daughter, Lilly Van Winsen; and brothers, Aaron Gaddis and Perry Tharp.

He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Dean Gaddis; his son, Henry Lee Van Winsen; brothers, Trenton Skyler Tharp and Timothy Duran Gaddis; his grandparents, Bob & Sally Van Winsen, Delores Crutcher and Lyle Gaddis; and his uncle, Terry Gaddis.

Those who knew Derek will miss him deeply.
