Diana was born January 2nd, 1952 in Hamilton, OH to Jim and Joan Erwin. She graduated from Talawanda High School and went on to attend Friends University in Wichita, KS. There she met Steve Tannehill whom she married on May 27th, 1972. Diana spent most of her working years as a mom and teacher to young children, including teaching at General Baptist Learning Center, and Hollister Schools where she worked as a Paraprofessional and Librarian. She also worked at the Legends Theater in the summers and enjoyed the show life of Branson.
Diana was musically gifted. She was a beautiful piano and organ player and used those gifts to serve Christ in the churches she attended over the years and in other musical venues. She also played the French horn with her fellow musicians in the Community Pit Orchestra. Taking in a symphony or band performance of her family brought her great joy. She was a talented quilter as well, spending many hours stitching her love into heirloom quilts treasured by her family. Her family also enjoyed countless birthday and wedding cakes she made with great care, sweetness and artistry.
Beyond her crafts, Diana appreciated the outdoors and wildlife. Her nature journaling captured in words the changing of seasons and the details of the Ozark Mountains and lakes. She enjoyed bird watching and casting a line in her many fishing endeavors (and fish frys), being sure also to never miss a family lake day. Driving adventures without a set destination were peaceful journeys she loved taking and you could also be sure she would be at her grandchildren’s sporting and band events whether they were indoors or outdoors.
“Nawn” is survived by her son, Jeremy Tannehill (Penny) of Ozark and daughter, Tricia Tannehill of Kirbyville, four grandchildren, Sydney (Casady) Clement of Kansas City, Fisher (Carly) Tannehill of Nixa, Carter Tannehill of Springfield, Jackson Tannehill of Ozark, and two great granddaughters, Ella and Harper Clement.
Diana is survived by three sisters, Karen Erwin of Somerville, OH, Sarah (Joe) Herzog of Hamilton, OH, Teresa (Chuck) Mullins of Somerville, OH, and many loved nieces and nephews. Diana was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Joan Erwin and husband Steve Tannehill.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Tannehill, Fisher Tannehill, Carter Tannehill, Jackson Tannehill, Casady Clement, and Jared Walker.
Honorary pallbearers Bill Walker, Chuck Mullins, Joe Herzog and Vince Selvidge.
Diana was a 29-year cancer survivor and huge supporter of Relay for Life. In her memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
