Dorothy A. Gray, age 91, passed away on December 18, 2025.

Dorothy A. Gray of Branson, MO, formerly of Knob Noster, MO passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025. Dorothy was born on January 11, 1934 to Mathias & Christine (Buerskin) Cichy in Urbank, Minnesota. After high school, Dorothy joined her siblings in Oregon. She briefly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where she met and married Denton Mathews. They welcomed son Michael Denton Mathews on March 24, 1955, while stationed in Germany. They were stationed all over the world, but made Knob Noster home. 

Dorothy married Merrill “Dean” Gray in January 1976. Together, they had many adventures, including running the Office Cafe, The Country Store, Red Oaks Storage, managing their rentals, traveling in their RV, and their favorite - being grandparents. Dorothy enjoyed quilting by hand, reading, traveling and spending time with family. Her steadfast faith carried her through this life. 

Dorothy is survived by daughters-in-law Stephanie Mathews and Leah Gray; granddaughters Melinda Mathews and her daughter Chloe; Kayla Vickrey, her husband Matt and their daughters Parker, Sarah Jo, Elsie & Hannah; step-grandchildren Matthew Gray & his family; Tyson, Lucas, Andrea (Ricke), & Jesse Gray and their families; one sister Mildred Olmscheid; and many other relatives and friends. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Math & Christine Cichy; husband, Dean Gray; son, Mike Mathews; step-sons, Mike & Tony Gray; brothers Melvin, Ermin & Ralph Cichy; and sisters, Bernice Anderson & Hildy Dorn. 

A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm at The Oaks Retirement Community in Branson, MO.
