Dorothy Louise Prewitt, age 96, passed away on November 3, 2025.
Dorothy Louise Prewitt, age 96, of Wheaton, Missouri passed on to her Heavenly home peacefully on November 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 1, 1929, in Neosho, Missouri to Irl and Ruth Dyer.
Dorothy had fond memories and spoke often of growing up with her five siblings in the Stella and Rocky Comfort area. She graduated from Rocky Comfort High School in 1947. Shortly following graduation, she married Charles Robert “Bob” Prewitt, her husband of 55 years.
Dorothy dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her husband and children and a welcoming environment for extended family and friends. Known for her wonderful cooking and baking skills, Dorothy’s delicious dishes brought much joy to countless family gatherings and church functions. Above all she will be remembered for her deep abiding love for her family, her kindness and compassion for everyone and her steadfast faith in God.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Bob and five siblings.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis Prewitt and wife Lois of Neosho, Missouri and Ronald Prewitt and wife Nancy of Wheaton, Missouri; daughters, Sheila Ellis and husband Gale of Neosho, Missouri and Sandy Forgey and husband Dale of Wheaton, Missouri. In addition to her children Dorothy is survived by 13 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy’s legacy will continue to be an inspiration to all who were touched by her gentle kind spirit. She had been a member of Ridgley Southern Baptist Church since 1963.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 10, 2025 at Ridgley Southern Baptist Church in Ridgley, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Dayton Brattin and Pastor John Henry will conduct the services. Burial will be at Chitwood Cemetery in Wheaton, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
Contributions may be made to Ridge Top Bible Camp in memory of Dorothy.
