Dorothy Lynn Caldwell Redard (Dodie), age 83, passed away on January 11, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Lynn Caldwell Redard (Dodie), age 83, of Branson, Missouri, who left us peacefully on January 11, 2026.
Dodie was born October 4, 1942 in Brownwood, Texas, to Robert Hayes and Essie Marie Penn Caldwell. Dodie was a proud native Texan who cherished her roots and her family. Growing up in an Air Force family took her around the world and back to the south where she met the love of her life, "Rod", at a Christmas Eve sock hop with marriage just around the corner. Married for 63 wonderful years, Dodie found her greatest joy in her family, who will forever cherish her love and guidance. Her love for family and faith was evident in every conversation and gathering. Many mornings, she could be found sipping hot tea while praying and reading her Bible, drawing strength and inspiration from her faith. Even in her last days, Dodie was fascinated with God in every detail of creation, marveling at the world around her, reflecting her deep Christian beliefs, which eventually led her to a passion that directed her professional path.
After dedicating many years to being a stay-at-home mom, in 1987 she fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse; with her Irish red-headed determination, she earned her BSN from Stephen F Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. As a registered nurse, she brought compassion and detailed professionalism to her work, for many years, touching the lives of countless patients and colleagues.
Dodie prided herself as a deep thinker and history buff, with particular interest in World War II, which was evidenced in her collection of information regarding the era. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge and engaging in thoughtful discussions with anyone around her. She loved spending time in one-on-one conversations about many things, where she could connect deeply with others, sharing her warm smile and gentle spirit. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her, always share how much her deep connection with them means.
Dodie loved all things Texas, and as an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, she often spent time watching games even after a move to Missouri almost 2 decades ago. She never missed a moment to share her Texas enthusiasm with family and friends, and other Texans around never hesitated to reciprocate with equal enthusiasm.
Dodie is survived by her devoted husband, Rod Redard; her loving children, Danny Redard and wife Trina of Lufkin, TX, Chris Redard of Jonesboro, AR, Laura Fogle and husband Randy of Branson, MO, and Andy Redard and wife Meredith of Nacogdoches, TX; grandchildren, Kalie Redard, Kylie Redard, Nicolas Redard, Alexis Carlough (Jason), Courtney Redard, Timothy Fogle, Joshua Fogle, 8 great-grandchildren, and brother Bob Caldwell (Ann). She is preceded in death by her parents and grandsons Ryan Daniel Redard and Colin Scott Redard. Her legacy lives on in each family member and in countless lives she touched. Though she may not be with us in body, her love and spirit carries on in every memory and heart she inspired.
